WTCLA Update: SELECT LA, SelectUSA, Auckland

Jul 20, 2016

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA - This summer has left no room for rest in WTCLA’s calendar.

As a follow-up to our July article recapping WTCLA’s 2nd SELECT LA Investment Summit on June 16th and 17th, we now have analytics that demonstrate its resounding success. 35 speakers relayed their expertise to an audience of 350, 54% of whom came from 33 countries and 40% of whom were key decision makers at their respective organizations. Industry leaders, including Jack Gao of Wanda Cultural Industry Group, built discussions from their experiences about making investments in Los Angeles. With the plethora of business executives and leaders present at SELECT LA, WTCLA is hopeful that meaningful conversations will continue to develop so that we can engage in deeper conversations with companies who have expressed interest in expanding business in L.A. and the greater Southern California region.

Looking to build on this year’s transformative event, WTCLA is already planning for next year’s SELECT LA Investment Summit on June 14th and 15th. We highly encourage you to save the date for what will be another transformative event!

Following SELECT LA on June 19th to 21st, the WTCLA team represented Los Angeles at the third SelectUSA Investment Summit. We showcased the L.A. advantage to the thousands of participants and built more international excitement for the next SELECT LA. We congratulate the Select USA team for organizing another fantastic summit.

From June 25th to 28th, WTCLA participated in American Airlines’ inaugural flight to Auckland, New Zealand, its first direct flight from LAX in twenty-four years. WTCLA was joined by the Arizona State Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council. The delegation met with Auckland Mayor Len Brown, representatives from the Auckland Council, as well as interacted with New Zealand businesses. WTCLA built stronger relationships with these offices and businesses and looks forward to the continued partnership between Los Angeles and Auckland borne from the Tripartite Agreement between the two cities and Guangzhou, China.
