WTC Mumbai Participates at IT Forum in Russia

MUMBAI, INDIA - A team from World Trade Centre Mumbai (WTC), All India Association of Industries (AIAI), representing Ms. Khyati Naravane, Assistant Director-Trade Promotion and Ms. Renu Verma, Director, AIAI respectively led an Indian business delegation to the VIII International IT Forum which was held on June 8-9, 2016 at the CTC ‘Ugra-Expo’ in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia. The key point of the Forum was the agreement on the establishment of the international telemedicine community of BRICS countries.

The VIII International IT-Forum was organized by the Government of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra along with Tomsk Region Administration and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra. The Forum ‘Digital Region: construction kit of the new opportunities for citizens’ targeted to assemble new digital reality.

The Forum facilitated discussions on the relevant issues of IT development and implementation in various spheres of life, exchange of best practices between Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) and Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries and provided a platform to demonstrate technological capabilities of domestic developers of IT-products to Russian and foreign specialists.

The Forum comprised an exhibition followed by the official opening ceremony of the IT forum. There were representatives from 48 countries including partners from BRICS and SCO members who participated in the Forum.

Ms. Natalia Komarova, Governor of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra, Russia inaugurated the Forum. Ms. Komarova in her keynote address emphasized on exploring new informational horizons for expanding businesses and humanitarian ties. She announced the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the BRICS countries for setting up telemedicine services initiated 2 years back at the IT-Forum. In addition, Ms. Komarova added that nine agreements will be signed within the framework of the Forum, most of which are in direct inter-regional cooperation format, and promoted at the previous meetings in Ugra. Ms. Komarova encouraged the delegates and the government representatives to have mutual dialogue in Information and Communication field for better prospects.

A proposed telemedicine project which meets the eligibility of the BRICS Bank and if approved would enable high quality and standard of medical care for more than 2.8 billion people living in these countries, she informed.

An interactive session was organized at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Ugra’s office on June 8, 2016 for the Indian delegates. The Indian business delegation presented their products and services which they had to offer the Russian market.

Ms. Naravane spoke of the services and facilities being offered by WTC Mumbai. Besides, speaking on the WTCs at Bhubaneswar, Goa and Jaipur, she enlightened the success stories of WTC Mumbai and its role in supporting MSMEs. Ms. Verma spoke of the Russia India Trade House Mumbai (RITHM) and its services being offered to MSME members.

Besides, there were various sessions on the telemedicine system.
