WTC Moscow takes part in Earth Hour

MOSCOW, RUSSIA - The Earth Hour is a campaign during which WWF invites people to turn off lights and appliances for an hour. At the same time the backlights of the world’s most famous buildings and monuments are turned off.

In Russia and in all other countries the campaign took place on March 19. The World Trade Center Moscow also joined it by turning off backlights of buildings for an hour from 20:30 to 21:30.

Amongst the capital’s facilities which took part in Earth Hour were Christ the Savior Cathedral, the Palace of Sport in Luzhniki, Moscow hotel, Ukraine hotel, National hotel, Exhibition of Economic Achievements' central pavilion, Moscow Zoo and many others.

Moscow participates in the event in its eighth year. At the set time backlights of Moscow Kremlin, Red Square, St. Basil's Cathedral and the GUM department store, as well as more than one hundred other well-known buildings in Moscow, which number is growing every year, go out.

Every year the Earth Hour helps to draw attention to the need of forming a responsible attitude towards nature. Today it is a mass environmental event in the world: it is attended by over 2 billion people worldwide, more than 170 countries and about 7,000 cities.
