MOSCOW, RUSSIA - Today, on June 6, the 9th installation of 5pEXPO, an international forum of exhibition industry, began its work at Expocentre, the central exhibition complex. The forum was organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation and by JSC Expocentre, and was also sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs (RUEF).
The title of the 5pEXPO forum symbolizes the unity of the five key components of exhibition business:
The 5pEXPO forum was started in 2007, and now it is the key professional communication venue where Russian and international specialists of the exhibition and congress industry and their peers from the event industry can meet and network. “For nine years in a row, we have gathered together to showcase new solutions in exhibition business,” noted Sergei Bednov, General Director of Expocentre.
At the official opening ceremony, the guests and exhibitors taking part in the 5pEXPO forum were also greeted by Vladimir Dmitriyev, Vice President of the CCI of Russia, and Sergei Alexeyev, President of the Russian Union of Exhibitions and Fairs and of the UFI.
“Exhibition, fair and congress activities are a mirror-like reflection of the current developments in industry and economy. This is an opportunity to showcase your achievements, and an opportunity to flaunt competitiveness of your economy. At the same time, it is a chance that Russian entrepreneurs have to exhibit their capabilities and to promote their products in internal and external markets,” Vladimir Dmitriyev, Vice President of the CCI of Russia, remarked in his welcoming speech. “The significance of the events in which we are taking part today consists precisely in asserting Russian business on international grounds on a par with our foreign partners, and to provide our reliable foreign partners with an opportunity to compete on equal terms in Russia.”
Mr. Alexeyev, President of the RUEF and of the UFI, thanked the CCI of Russia and Expocentre for making 5pEXPO a place where new ideas and technologies have been emerging for many years. “The crisis notwithstanding, we, exhibition industry professionals, will be able to pursue the dialog on our level and to resolve in a commendable manner all the issues faced by this country today,” he added.
Other speakers also greeted everyone involved in the Global Exhibitions Day, which was celebrated this year worldwide for a first time on June 8.
Vladimir Strashko, General Director of the World Trade Center Moscow, said a little later, at the 6th all-Russian conference “Efficiency of exhibition, fair and congress activities and promotion of domestic products and services in internal and external markets,” “It so happened, be it fate or pragmatism, that today, on the eve of the Global Exhibitions Day, we have come together and we are holding a traditional congress event, where we do not need to get flashy in order to place accents on how to coexist, without forgetting market competition amongst ourselves, and at the same time keeping a comradely open attitude towards one another.”
This year, the exhibition was built according to principles of a trade fair. The pavilion was divided into two showrooms: “Expostand,” featuring design, and “Exhibitions and congresses: Exhibition services and event services,” highlighting event planning and event management. Within the framework of the trade fair, a competition called Expodesign 2016 took place, which was aimed at giving impetus to new inventions and unique solutions in design and development.
