MOSCOW, RUSSIA - Today, the WTC Moscow hosted the 14th metallurgical summit, “Russian steel and the global market: Modernization potential,” organized by National Review LLC.
This year, the event is dedicated to the 15th anniversary of Russian Steel, a consortium that unites Russia’s major manufacturers of metallurgical produce, such as Metalloinvest, Mechel, MMK, Severstal, TMK, PMKh and others. In the course of the conference, the biggest companies of the Russian metallurgical industry summarized the results of the industry’s modernization over the past 15 years, shared their assessments of the current situation and their plans for the future.
At the first session of the summit, “Russian Steel and global challenges: The key outcome of investment programs,” the attendees were greeted by Sergei Tsyb, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, who also spoke about the government’s industrial policy and the forthcoming developments in the metallurgical industry. Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade, also has sent his own greeting to the summit participants.
The theme of global challenges in the metallurgical industry was continued by Dmitry Pumpyansky, President of Russian Steel and Chairman of the Board of Directors, TMK, foreign expert Hans JĂĽrgen Kerkhoff, President and Managing Director, German Steel Federation. The session was moderated by Yury Mishin, Vice President and Chairman of the Managing Committee, Russian Steel.
As the summit progressed, three thematic sessions were held, “Modernization of strategies: Through a stage of uncertainty to a new level of sustainable development,” “Production modernization: The market effect from advanced technologies” and “Effective export policy: A response to the challenges of growing competition.”
