LAS VEGAS, NV, USA – The exhibition industry continues to show strength and growth in Las Vegas. During the first half of this year, several of the annual shows at the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center reported record growth.
The Consumer Technology Association’s CES® show, owner of the World Trade Center Las Vegas license, broke its own records with 2.47 million net square feet of exhibit space and more than 170,000 attendees. CES continuously breaks records. In 2015, it was named the No. 1 trade show in the country (based on net square feet) by Trade Show News Network (TSNN) on their annual “Top 250 Trade Shows in the United States” list.
InfoComm International, the trade association representing the professional audiovisual and information communications industries worldwide, broke records in attendance, exhibitors and exhibit space. Nearly 39,000 people visited WTC LV for the event. Of note, more than 35 percent of attendees visited InfoComm for the first time while it was held in Las Vegas. The June show welcomed 1,000 exhibitors, including 211 new exhibitors, across more than 527,000 net square feet of exhibit space.
World of Concrete, the industry’s only annual international event dedicated to the commercial concrete and masonry construction industries, and RECon 2016, the global convention for the shopping center industry, both reported their highest attendance in the post-recession era with 60,110 and 36,000 participants, respectively.
Beyond WTC LV, in 2015, Las Vegas maintained its long-standing reputation as the leading destination for business travel as it was named the No. 1 trade show destination for the 22nd consecutive year by TSNN. Las Vegas continues to evolve, ensuring it provides the best of everything to its more than 42 million annual visitors, 5.9 million of which are convention delegates. More than $9 billion in current and proposed development is on the books to add to the destination’s appeal including the expansion of WTC LV with its Las Vegas Convention Center District project.
