Workshop on Zero Defect Zero Effect And LMCS

BHUBANESWAR, INDIA - Workshop on “Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme, ZED & Accreditation of Business” 

“Development of skill sets is the key to the success of MSMEs” said Shri. Sujeet Kumar, Special Secretary to the Department of Planning & Convergence, Government of Odisha. This is he said while delivering the inaugural address at the workshop on “Lean Manufacturing Competitiveness Scheme, ZED & Accreditation of Business” organized by World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar in association with NABET & Quality Council of India (QCI), under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India and Department of Planning & Convergence, Government of Odisha here in Bhubaneswar on 01st September 2016 at IDCO Towers. He further added that the Government of Odisha is looking at quality in terms of good governance and has substantially come out with policies which are positive and encouraging. He emphasized that the MSMEs should come forward to reap the benefits of the latest IPR policy and start-up policy of the government which put forth an efficient and effective institutional support system in place for the growth and development of the entrepreneurs of the state. He further welcomed Cdr. J.S. Bhogal, the facilitator for the workshop and expressed his affirmation that it is only through such skill development and educative forums that the MSMEs could learn and be on a progressive path. 

The workshop was facilitated by Cdr. J.S. Bhogal (Retd.), Senior Director from QCI. Cdr. Bhogal made his deliberations through a presentation citing specific case studies and daily life examples which made the workshop lively and interactive. The workshop enabled MSMEs, clusters, entrepreneurs and Start Ups to get first-hand information on quality standards and accreditation services offered by Quality Council of India [QCI] and National Accreditation Board for Education & Training [NABET] which would help them in enhancing their productivity & environment parameters to increase their profitability and thereby also participate in the ‘Make in India’ programme.

Earlier in her address, Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Manager, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar took the opportunity to welcome the dignitaries and the participants to the workshop. While introducing Cdr. Bhogal, she highlighted his vast experience and positions held so far and deliberated that as per the economic survey of the state during 2013-14, the maximum number of MSMEs were set up in manufacturing units, belonging to the repairing & services followed by food and allied sector. Emphasizing on the scope for the downstream industries in the state she showcased that the workshop would be one of the finest learning experiences on quality and manufacturing.

A lively Q& A session added value to the workshop which was attended by more 70 practicing and aspiring entrepreneurs from the state.
