Ushering Micro Enterprises - A Step Towards “MIN"

BHUBANESWAR, INDIA - A motivational workshop on Micro Entrepreneurship was organized by World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar in association with Urban Micro Business Centre (UMBC) and Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (UMBC) here in Bhubaneswar on Friday, 23rd September 2016. The workshop aimed at providing mentoring to the skilled and trained masses to establish micro enterprises.

The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Pradyumna Jena and Mr. Sidheswar Jena faculties from EDII. While Mr. Pradyumna though its interactive session presented to the participants the concept of entrepreneurship and its competitive advantages emphasising on the difference between employment and self –employment Mr. Sidheswar in his session showcased the various steps of setting up an enterprise.

 Through a presentation he further deliberated on the key aspects of business such as developing the relevant skill capacities, need for conducting market studies, availing finance through various schemes such as MUDRA as well as banking procedures for the same. The workshop thus provided an insight on entrepreneurship with a briefing on its prospects both in terms of livelihood as well as a holistic well-being of the nation through inclusive growth and development. It also underlined a brief about the existing entrepreneurial eco system and institutional support system in place.

Mr. Subrat Dash, Executive Director, Urban Micro Business Centre in his opening remarks thanked World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar for the initiative and explained to the participants the objective of the workshop. The further related that the aim of UMBC which was to build the capacities of the grass root level people of India to take build their own livelihood wherein they would not only employ others but also aid in building the nations strength in manufacturing sector.

Earlier in her welcome address Ms. Nimeshika Natarajan, Manager, World Trade Centre Bhubaneswar while thanking the associate organizations, introduced the concept of World Trade Centre to the participants and explained its mode of operations. She also deliberated that Micro Enterprises are the base of the pyramid on an economy and the development of a country largely depends on this base. She added that it is only the organized micro enterprises in place which will lead to formation of clusters and there by further pave the path for an inclusive growth and development both on national and international fronts. She also, took the opportunity to introduce the facilitators of the workshop to the participants.

A lively session on individual self-introduction of the micro enterprises which is already been set up by the participating entrepreneurs and problem solving Q&A’s to various issues in the enhancement and expansion of the enterprises added much value to the workshop. The workshop was attended by over 50 participants who are into micro entrepreneurship from various business activities.
