PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA - Greater Philadelphia World Trade Centers Day 14th Annual Awards and Celebration Connects Region's Civic and Economic Leaders with Trade Community
After September 11, 2001, the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), in cooperation with the United Nations, chartered a day to be celebrated around the world as World Trade Centers Day. The 330+ world trade centers worldwide organize activities ranging from conferences and dinners to other cultural and educational events, spreading the world trade centers' message of peace and prosperity through global trade.
Recognized this year on May 4 during World Trade Month and held at the Independence Seaport Museum, the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia (WTCGP) awards ceremony and reception celebrated both the WTCGP honorees, and also the role of trade and exports in strengthening the region’s economy. Event attendees had the opportunity to meet WTCGP’s award honorees and network with high level business leaders, thereby establishing valuable international business connections. NBC 10 anchor and reporter Rosemary Connors served as emcee.
Global Business Leadership Award
The 2016 Global Business Leadership Award was presented to Jerry Sweeney, President, CEO and Trustee of Brandywine Realty Trust and Chairman of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, for his visionary work in real estate development and in transforming the landscape of the Greater Philadelphia region along both sides of the Delaware River. From Philadelphia's iconic Cira Centre, the future FMC Tower and Cira Centre South to the Schuylkill Yards Innovation Development and the new Subaru of America corporate campus in Camden, Jerry and Brandywine are making our communities competitive global business destinations. As Chairman of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, Jerry is also playing a key role in strengthening the Port's infrastructure, increasing its capacity and enhancing its reputation as a hub for global trade.
