LAS VEGAS, NV, USA - Part of the mission of the World Trade Center Las Vegas (WTC LV) is to encourage international attendance to Las Vegas-based trade shows. Recently, nearly 1,200 attendees from various Scandinavian countries visited the Las Vegas Convention and World Trade Center for the annual CES®2016.
With Stockholm considered by many to be the “New Silicon Valley”, the WTC LV and the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)™, licensee of the WTC LV, and the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development worked with Lena Walther, the Honorary Consul of Sweden in Las Vegas, to set up a specialized event for members from Swedish and Nordic-based companies attending CES 2016. A preliminary plan that will assist companies interested in establishing their U.S. market headquarters in Nevada was presented to the delegates.
“Part of my goal is to identify Scandinavian startup companies and encourage them to set up high-tech incubators in Las Vegas,” said Walther. “CES is the perfect platform to engage these companies.”
More than 250 Nordic-based representatives and investor groups attended a seminar with speakers aimed at selling Nevada as a desirable business destination. For some, this was part of an on-going conversation to bring business to Las Vegas and for others, it was an introduction to the concept.
Several dignitaries also visited for the first time, including the Ambassador of Sweden, the Counselor of Trade at the Swedish Embassy, the Norwegian Consul General, the Finnish Consul General, and two trade experts working with the latter and the Polish Minister of Trade.
