SAVANNAH, GA, USA - For Q3 2016, Area Development released their top states for doing business for 2016 and for the third year in a row, Georgia took the #1 spot. Area Development surveyed consultants on 10 categories impacting location and facility decisions regarding states. Examples of these categories include the cost of doing business, competitive labor costs and cooperative and responsive state government. The consultants were asked to name their top state picks for the 10 different categories. The resulting scores were weighted in each category to produce rankings within each factor, along with overall rankings that considered all factors.
Georgia was able to retain top rankings within the top six spots throughout each category listed in the survey. They not only held the #1 spot in workforce development programs but in cooperative and responsive state government as well. Georgia also managed to place #2 in the competitive labor environment, regulatory environment, and speed of permitting categories.
Georgia has been leading other states in workforce development by continually moving forward with innovation and ideas. The state now has a brand-new initiative, WorkSource Georgia. The initiative, which includes spotlight training, educational opportunities and a statewide approach to match employers with qualified job seekers, hopes to help Georgia maintain its lead in workforce development and add to its competitive edge in economic development.
