First Sponsor Meeting for the 2018 GA

LEEUWARDEN, NETHERLANDS - WTC Leeuwarden had their first official sponsor meeting on Tuesday, September 13, in preparation for the 2018 WTCA General Assembly. Evert Jan Schouwstra, Managing Director of WTC Leeuwarden, reviewed the proposal and displayed the successful bid presentation that eventually granted the WTCA GA host location to WTC Leeuwarden. The key speaker of the event was Gerard Vaandrager, a member of the Board of Directors and representative of the WTCA. He gave a very interesting historical overview and an update of where the Association stands today. 

After the presentation of Peter Linnenbank, Project Manager WTCA GA 2018, the sponsors expressed their excitement to have the GA in the region and of how eager they are to bring this prestigious project to a successful conclusion. 

Also to note is the Kings Day in the Netherlands, which will be April 27. It is a national holiday for the Dutch and the color of Orange will be seen everywhere. To experience this you will need to be particularly in the city of Amsterdam. 

Leeuwarden will be highlighted in a different way as it was chosen to be the European Cultural City for 2018. This will bring forth a multitude of cultural events and activities throughout the year. Bringing these festivities (both in Leeuwarden and Amsterdam) together in one wide global event will put The Netherlands as a prominent destination for 2018.
