LEEUWARDEN, NETHERLANDS - WTC Leeuwarden had the first official sponsor meeting on Tuesday, September 13 for the 2018 WTCA General Assembly.
Evert Jan Schouwstra, Managing Director of WTC Leeuwarden, reviewed the proposal and displayed the successful bid presentation that eventually granted the WTCA GA host location to WTC Leeuwarden.
The key speaker of the event was Gerard Vaandrager, a member of the Board of Directors and representative of the WTCA. He gave a very interesting historical overview of the WTCA, and as well as an update of where the Association stands today.
After the presentation of Peter Linnenbank, Project Manager for the WTCA GA 2018, the sponsors expressed their excitement to have the GA in the region and of how eager they are to bring this prestigious project to a successful conclusion.
Also to note is April 27 – the Kings day that will take place in the Netherlands. It is a national holiday and the color of Orange will be seen everywhere. To experience the Dutch culture, you need to be in the city of Amsterdam.
Leeuwarden is the hosting city for the WTCA General Assembly. However, Leeuwarden will also be highlighted in a different way during 2018 as it will be the European Cultural City of that year, with many cultural events and activities throughout the year. Bringing these festivities (both in Leeuwarden and Amsterdam) together in one globally attended event will put The Netherlands at a prominent location for the year of 2018.
Their next update and Sponsor meeting is to be expected during the first quarter of 2017.
