The ceremony of awarding the winners of the National Award in the field of business “Gold Mercury” in 2015 became striking final event of “Russian Business Day-2016”, which was held in Central Exhibition Complex “Expocentre”.
Since 2004 “Gold Mercury Award” became an annual Contest organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation with the support of the State Duma, the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Traditionally this year too World Trade Center Moscow and “Expocentre” were the partners of the event.
The winners in 16 categories were awarded with the symbols of “Golden Mercury Award” – statues of Roman god of commerce, made by the author's sketches of the sculptor Vladimir Surovtsev. The winners were also awarded with special commemorative medals. All finalists were presented with diplomas of RF CCI, they have also acquired the right to use the emblem of “Gold Mercury Award” as an evidence of high quality products and service they produce.
Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation gave a welcoming speech to the winners, laureates and guests of the ceremony. In his speech he noted: “Your annual competition has an important aim, e.g. to support small and medium-sized businesses, non-primary companies and enterprises focused on export. It fosters positive business image of Russia, implementation of import phase-out programme, promotion of domestic goods. By tradition the winners of “Gold Mercury Award” are the most energetic, talented and innovative-minded people who have achieved success in various fields – from agriculture, trade, construction to pharmaceutical and IT-technology industries”. He also congratulated the participants of the ceremony with Russian Business Day. Minister of Economic Development Alexei Ulyukayev in his word to the winners of the competition expressed gratitude for their unconditional contribution to the improvement of the quality of life, emerging of new markets and work places. “Every day you demonstrate a proactive approach to life, effectively overcome difficulties, manifest the will to succeed, form new initiatives”, – he stressed.
President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation Sergey Katyrin noted in his speech: “The whole country has been engaged in supporting small and medium-sized businesses for more than 20 years. Yet, historically the issues with the exporters were left to the Soviet Chamber of Commerce”. He also thanked the heads of local chambers, heads of committees and councils of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russia for their active work on maintenance of businesses that were represented at the event and all the entrepreneurs who participated in the competition.
Director General of WTC Vladimir Strashko also congratulated all the participants with their professional holiday and marked: “Gold Mercury Award is the best prize within the business community and I am proud that together with the winners, with all the participants, led by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we are celebrating today Russian Business Day. I would like to thank “Expocentre” for organizing the event”.
