BECAMEX & VNUHCM SIGN COMPREHENSIVE COOPERATION

On the afternoon of August 2nd, the People's Committee of Binh Duong Province and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) co-hosted a conference to review nearly two years of implementing the cooperation agreement for the 2022–2027 period. During the conference, Becamex IDC (parent company of World Trade Center Binh Duong New City) and VNUHCM signed a comprehensive cooperation memorandum for the 2024–2028 period. The signing ceremony aims to develop high-quality human resources, promote research, advance science and technology, and innovation.

At the conference, delegates were briefed on the contents of the cooperation agreement that had been implemented, and initial positive results were achieved after nearly two years of execution. Annually, more than 800 students from Binh Duong Province enroll at the member schools of VNUHCM. The percentage of students from the province attending the High School for the Gifted under the university who achieved excellent grades was 92% for the 2022–2023 academic year and 98.5% for the 2023–2024 academic year. Additionally, the two parties have developed transferable scientific and technological products such as the "Construction of a telemedicine system for remote healthcare services"; "Research and development of a high-tech agricultural tourism model in Phu Giao District"; and data analysis for administrative reform, digital transformation, Project 06, and the smart city initiative.

To further enhance the effectiveness of the cooperation agreement, both sides discussed and agreed on specific solutions to be implemented in the coming period. Key initiatives include: collaborating to implement professional knowledge enhancement programs for officials, public servants, teachers, and lecturers; commissioning the training of human resources according to the province's needs; launching short courses for small and medium-sized enterprises on business management; conducting applied research programs in artificial intelligence and digital transformation; promoting the inclusion of Eastern International University as an affiliated member of VNUHCM; and providing financial support for the construction of the Creative Square at the university to serve the recreational needs of students and the public.

After the delegates had reviewed the reports and discussed key issues at the conference, Becamex IDC and VNUHCM held a signing ceremony for a comprehensive cooperation memorandum for the 2024–2028 period.

Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hai Quan, Director of VNUHCM, emphasized that the university and Becamex IDC have an organic connection and highlighted the significance of the comprehensive cooperation signing between the two entities. Moving forward, both parties have agreed to collaborate strategically in areas such as the electronic microchip-semiconductor industry; electrical - electronics, telecommunications; precision engineering; automation, robotics, Industry 4.0; eco-industrial parks, smart industrial zones: Net-zero/carbon neutrality, industrial symbiosis, circular economy; and the development of smart cities.

In the field of science and technology, the two sides will collaborate to develop and implement plans for activities related to constructing and operating scientific and technological infrastructure, sharing resources; establishing shared specialized training and research facilities; training and developing human resources; and coordinating on applied research projects for businesses.

At the conference, Mr. Vo Van Minh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Duong Province, expressed his hope that with the proposed solutions, the cooperation between Binh Duong Province and VNUHCM in general, and between Becamex IDC and the university in particular, will achieve increasingly clear results, aligning with Binh Duong's development strategy in the coming years. He emphasized that this signing is of great importance to the province and expressed confidence that through this sustainable and comprehensive agreement, the parties involved will further enhance the effectiveness of their cooperation in development and training. The signing of the comprehensive cooperation memorandum between Becamex IDC and VNUHCM concretizes the "Triple Helix" model of cooperation between the state, academia, and industry, aiming to drive Binh Duong towards smart, modern, and sustainable development.
