Jayant Ghate, Advisor, World Trade Center Navi Mumbai
Jayant Ghate has been working in the area of International Trade and Investment Promotion for four decades and is closely associated with the World Trade Centers (WTC) in India since long.
He was instrumental in initiating and developing Knowledge-based Services such as Trade Information, Education, Research and Promotion at the WTC Mumbai which is a pioneer of the WTCs movement in India. He was responsible for obtaining the WTCA Quality Certification twice for such services at the WTC Mumbai . He also organized the WTCA global events in India like General Assemblies, Spring Meet, Asia Pacific Regional Meets, and Training Programs etc. He promoted the WTC concept in India and abroad and obtained for WTC Mumbai licenses for three more WTCs in India.
He conducted a number of research studies (Global Markets Surveys, Indian Industry/Business, Policy, WTO Agreements) not only for the WTC Mumbai but also for Government of India, State Government of Maharashtra as well as private sector organizations.
Jayant Ghate has designed many Trade Conferences / Workshops / Exhibitions at the WTC Mumbai and also its annual flagship event namely Global Economic Summit ( GES ) which attracts over 300 Delegates from 30 countries. He set up a Library and Databases on India’s Trade at the WTC Mumbai and started the Membership Services. He retired from the WTC Mumbai as Director in 2011.
He has networked with various government agencies, chambers and associations not only in India but abroad (WTO / UNCTAD / ITC, UNIDO / ITPO, WTPF, UFI, IASP, CBI) and brought their value additions to India. He has also helped and encouraged a number of Entrepreneurs and Exporters in terms of business development.
Jayant Ghate has contributed to many organizations in capacity as their Committee Member. These include interalia, WTCA, EXIM Bank of India, Indian Merchants Chamber, Maharashtra Government Industry Ministry to name a few .
He holds a Post Graduate Degree in Economics from Mumbai University and has graduated from the same University in Statistics with Distinction. He also had undergone special training in Foreign Trade Management and United Nations.
Presently Jayant Ghate is an Advisor to the WTC Navi Mumbai and is responsible to start and organize its Trade Services activities such as International Business Guidance, Export Start-ups and Incubation, Country Seminars, Membership, Trade Missions and so on.
